Play Where the Pros Play and Do What
The legendary Miami golf getaway has been renovated and revitalized,
For decades, Doral Golf Resort & Spa has thrilled golfers and pampered its guests as one of the premier golf destinations in the country. The famous Miami, Fla., resort has recently received a little TLC of its own, and is ready to reintroduce itself to Metropolitan New York-area travelers.
Doral recently completed a $16 million renewal phase that includes renovations, restorations and
upgrades throughout the property in advance of the resort’s Golden Jubilee in 2012. From the golf courses to
the spa and beyond, every area of the resort is in prime condition to host New York golfers this fall, winter and
beyond.
One Met-area golf professional who has seen the changes at Doral firsthand is Patrick Eggeling of Old
Oaks Country Club in Purchase, N. Y. Named by Golf Digest as one of the top teachers in New York,
Eggeling learned about Doral’s many upgrades during a recent stay at the resort.
“The way I describe it to my members is that they’ve updated the entire resort without losing that cool
Doral attitude and history,” says Eggeling, the 2005 Metropolitan PGA Section Teacher of the Year.
“Everything’s been refreshed, and Doral feels a lot more energized than it did the last couple times I was
there.”
If you haven’t seen Doral lately, then you haven’t seen the exciting new developments on the property.
For golfers, that includes a new partnership with the PGA Tour on the TPC Blue Monster at Doral course, as
well as adding a new golf course – The Jim McLean Signature Course – for a total of five championship
courses at the resort. The Great White and Gold courses have been renovated with new greens, and the Red
Course remains a fair test of golf to players of all skill levels.
The TPC Blue Monster at Doral is the
headliner, a course that is a fixture on the PGA
Tour and on the “bucket list” of golfers around the
world.
The Jim McLean Signature Course, named for
the famed golf instructor who calls Doral home,
features fantastic lake views throughout the course.
The course is already gaining acclaim for the
“Bermuda Triangle” – a trio of golf’s most
challenging successive holes. The Greg Norman-
designed Great White course was redesigned to fit
Norman’s vision of fusing tropical ambience with
