association:
11. George Zahringer III has the most career
MGA championship victories, with 15.
Jerry Courville Sr. is second with 14.
12. More than 100,000 copies of The Met
Golfer are distributed with each issue.
13. The MGA provides administrative support
to ten other regional golf associations,
including the Metropolitan Club Managers,
Metropolitan Golf Course Superintendents,
the Tri-State Turf Research Foundation and
four senior associations.
15. Roughly 70,000 golfers receive the MGA’s
e-Revision Newsletter every two weeks
during the score posting season. Not one

16. The MGA headquarters, Golf Central, is
also home to the Metropolitan PGA,
Women’s Metropolitan Golf Association
and Westchester Golf Association.
17. The cornerstone of the MGA Foundation is
the innovative GOLFWORKS student intern
program, employing more than 200 student
interns at 80 Met Area clubs each year.
18. It takes between 50 and 60 courses per year
to play all of the MGA’s qualifying rounds
and championships, (it increases to 80+
with seminars, clinics, and outings).
19. The MGA was a founding partner of The
First Tee of Metropolitan New York, which is
now the largest First Tee chapter in the
country with eight sites in the Met Area.
20. The MGA conducts a wide range of
educational programs to benefit club
operations, including Handicapping &
Rules seminars, Green Chairman series,
and an annual Presidents Council, as well
as Caddie Academies for area youth.
