best ensemble casts on television.
The Kevin Dillon File
Born: August 19, 1965 in Mamaroneck, N. Y.
Resides:
Malibu, California with wife, Jane, and daughters Amy and Ava
Family History:
The suggestion of turning this nine-hole
outing into a full 18 starts on the tee box of the
16th hole, the seventh hole of the day.
Dillon has just made an incredible up and down
from the side of a hill on the par-three 15th:
His flop shot got hung up in an apron of rough
before escaping and trickling onto the green.
He was left with a 20-foot par putt, which he
calmly knocked in the hole. It was the second
long putt he has canned, and it’s an indication
of a short game that is his savior today.
Dillon fights a hook that at its best is a
sweeping draw and at its worst a round killer.
On this sunny, 90-degree spring day, the hook
is not cooperating, but Dillon is one over par
through six holes. On two of the par fours,
he drives the cart into the woods to find his
drive, punches through to the short grass,
knocks his next shot on the green and makes
what seems like a routine par save.
Despite his score, the swing
flaw is driving him crazy. Dillon
is obsessed with correcting it,
asking if his head moved or his
shoulder dipped. By the seventh
hole, he has figured it out and his ensuing
tee shot is a high, gentle draw that lands in
the middle of the fairway. The TaylorMade
driver he bought at a sporting goods store is
behaving. Playing another nine looks extremely appealing now, especially since the 7-hand-
icapper is flirting with a score
in the 70s.
One gets the sense, however, that it wouldn’t matter if he
was struggling to break 90.
Dillon simply prefers to be on
a golf course. Whether it’s Malibu Country Club, which is a
public course with a private
name, or a nine-hole pitch and
putt near the Hollywood studio, where he and the cast
members from the HBO series
Entourage are in the midst of
shooting the fifth season of the
widely popular series, Dillon
always wants to play.
Golf and Entourage are
intertwined, and Dillon has the
lowest handicap in the cast.
Show co-creator and producer
Mark Wahlberg reportedly got
the idea for Entourage while on
a golf course, and the sport has
